Please join us Today for for Sweet Truths: Understanding Diabetes in South Asian Communities, a timely and important conversation about the disproportionate impact of type 2 diabetes on South Asians here and around the world. We are delighted to welcome a special of panel of speakers including Dr. Vivek Murthy, 19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. Nalini Saligram, Founder & CEO of Arogya World, Dr. K.M Venkat Narayan, Professor of Global Health & Epidimiology, Emory University, Dr. Alka Kanaya, Professor of Medicine, University of California at San Francisco, and Dr. Ravichandran Ramasamy, Professor, Department of Medicine, Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, New York University. Diabetes is a global health crisis, but its impact on South Asians is particularly severe. South Asians are up to four times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than people of European ancestry, often 10 years earlier, and across South Asia, over 100 million adults currently live with diabetes, a number expected to rise by more than 70% by 2050.
